Graduation Information

Checklist for Graduation

  1. ALL graduation candidates must file an Application for Graduation with the Office of Registrar. Candidates must have a total of 90+ credit hours upon applying for a bachelor degree. The application can be found online at registrar.uindy.edu/forms.php or you may pick one up in the Office of Registrar. Applications must be on file with the Office of Registrar for the current academic year. Your Key Advisor will be notified; however, it is your responsibility to set up an appointment to go over your degree audit.
  2. If your graduation time line changes after you have submitted your application, contact Roberta Hurst (rhurst@uindy.edu) or (317) 788-3220.
  3. Bachelors Degree Requirement:
    1. Complete a minimum of 124 semester hours
    2. Earn the last 30 semester hours of coursework at UIndy
    3. Earn a grade point average of 1.7 or above in the general education core
    4. Attain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0
    5. Earn at least 1/3 of the required hours in the major at UIndy
    6. Satisfactorily complete one designated Spring Term course if enrolled full-time for two consecutive semesters in an academic year. (students who transfer 60 hours or more to UIndy and who are full-time during only the final year of a program are exempt from this requirement).
    7. Satisfy all requirements, including grade requirements, for the specific degree program as outlined on the official major/program curriculum or requirement guide.
    8. Questions regarding any of the above need to be addressed with your Key Advisor.
    9. All potential candidates must settle outstanding financial obligations prior to the week of graduation.

Undergraduate Ceremony

2:00 p.m.
Nicoson Hall

Conclusion: Reception for all graduates, family and friends Smith Mall. In case of inclement weather, reception will be in Schwitzer Student Center.

Important Deadlines

All CLEP exam results and official transcripts of transfer credit MUST be received by the Office of Registrar prior to the end of each semester in order for a student to be eligible for graduation within the specified semester.

Students graduating in August may participate in the May Commencement ceremony, providing they will complete all necessary requirements within the summer term.

Students in absentia at the commencement ceremony will be contacted by phone regarding receipt of their diploma.
