A written request from the student is required to release an official or unofficial transcript. The university will not accept an email or telephone request. It is a violation of the law to release a transcript without the student's written authorization. For more information, please visit the US Department of Education FERPA site.

note: To receive a copy of your official or unofficial transcript, you must complete the request form, pay the transcript fee, and all financial obligations to the University must be taken care of. This includes fees or fines owed to the Accounting Office, Campus Police, Library, and Health Center. If you have any past balance due with any of these offices, there will be a "hold" on your record and we will not be able to issue your transcript.

What is an Official Transcript?

A transcript is a comprehensive record of a student's academic performance  including courses transferred, credit by exam, and degrees awarded.

Official transcripts are printed on security paper with the University of Indianapolis seal and signature of the Registrar.  They are sealed in an envelope with the signature of the Registrar placed along the seal.

The transcript is formatted to list your entire UIndy course history, grades, and GPA information in chronological order.

The transcript contains the following information:
  • The student's name and birthday.
  • The student identification number.
  • A list of all courses taken at any campus of University of Indianapolis.
  • All credit and grades awarded.
  • A list of all courses taken at other universities which were accepted for transfer credit (without grades displayed).
  • Any University of Indianapolis degree awarded to the student along with the degree date.
  • The student's semester and cumulative grade point averages.

If a student attended University of Indianapolis for both undergraduate and graduate work, all courses will be printed out on a transcript. Separate grade point averages will be maintained for work taken as an undergraduate student and as a graduate student.
