May Commencement is held at the conclusion of Semester II. Students who have completed graduation requirements in December and May, and those wishing to complete requirements in August may participate in the May ceremony. In order to participate in commencement, students must complete an Application for Graduation online.
*Please note: The commencement ceremony is outdoors. Please inform your guests so that they may be appropriately prepared. Additional seating will be available in Ransburg Auditorium located in Esch Hall. The auditorium is air-conditioned and has comfortable seating. Guests who might find the outdoor seating in Key Stadium to be uncomfortable for the ceremony may choose to view the ceremony from Ransburg Auditorium located on the east entrance to Esch Hall
In the event of inclement weather, students will receive a Watchdog alert the morning of Saturday, May 5th to inform them if there is a change to the ceremony. Parking for commencement will be available on campus and at two additional remote sites with shuttle service provided. We encourage you to consider utilizing the shuttle service to campus due to the large expected attendance for commencement.
The remote parking lots are located in the same vicinity as the university: at Calvary Christian Church (3639 S. Keystone Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46227) and Primo Banquet Center (2615 National Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46227).
Shuttles will be running from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. from the front doors of Calvary Christian Church to the Nicoson Hall back parking lot (Lot 17). These will be the drop off and pick up points during the entire 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. time frame.
The University of Indianapolis takes great pride in having diplomas available for our graduates on the day of commencement. Following the commencement ceremony, graduates should proceed to UIndy Hall B/C to pick up their diploma. Graduates not attending the commencement ceremony are welcome to pick up their diploma from UIndy Hall B/C between 12:00 noon - 3:00 p.m.
Please note that a photo ID is required for diploma pick-up. Diplomas will not be released to anyone other than the graduate.
All graduates are encouraged to pick up their diploma on the day of commencement, however if this is not possible, diplomas will be available for pick up in the Office of the Registrar for two weeks following commencement before being mailed via certified mail.
Students wishing to order personalized announcements may do so with a Herff-Hones representative in February. The Herff-Jones representative will be on hand to process orders for all commencement announcements and various commencement memorabilia. Announcements may also be ordered online here.
All students participating in the commencement ceremony are required to wear proper academic attire. Regalia may be purchased from the UIndy Bookstore located in Schwitzer Student Center. Students off campus may contact the bookstore at (317) 788-3228 to have regalia mailed, if needed.
Seniors wishing to purchase a class ring may do so with a Josten's representative. The Josten's representative will be available to answer questions and process orders during campus visits. Dates, times, and locations of visits will be forwarded to potential graduates.
No tickets are required for family or guests who will be attending the commencement ceremony.
Students with family members/guests who need special seating arrangements should contact University Events by email no later than two weeks prior to commencement. A designated area is available in Key Stadium for guests who are unable to walk distances, use walkers, wheelchairs or motorized chairs or who are hearing impaired. Handicapped parking is available in Lot 17 (east of Nicoson Hall) with a placard obtained from the University Events.

Please Note: Student proofs will be ready to view online typically 48 hours after the ceremony. In order to notify students when images are available, GradImages sends emails and mails paper proofs, along with optional text message notifications. Student information is never shared and privacy is guaranteed. Pre-registering is simply a way to make sure student contact information is up-to-date with GradImages, so they can provide complimentary proofs as quickly as possible. Although there's never any obligation to order, students save $5 off on any order of $25 or more only if they pre-register.
